Testing at work
Our client wanted to change the role of their testing department, and they needed our help to prepare the ground. We had to work efficiently, extracting the core needs from our client and producing a new working methodology and documentation without disrupting the ongoing work of their test team.
Their development landscape and roles and responsibilities were set to change, and that presented the testing practice with key challenges. To support their new way of working, they would need a strategy, processes and a lifecycle, re-positioning the testing skills base from system testing to acceptance testing, and re-aligning the testing capability to serve the wider business community.
A consultancy exercise kick-started the project. During 6 weeks with our client we consulted with the testing practice manager, the testing practice team, project managers, programme managers, and business users to understand the main issues affecting them.
We also held workshops with the individual groups to roll out what had been developed. In terms of output, RDF created a testing guide with sections for all levels and types of users so that they all fully understood their role in testing.
The testing practice manager was able to focus on his work while we created the strategy, templates, processes and test guide. With a robust testing system in place, our client no longer needs to spend time and money training new starters.
