The mobile app was too important to fail, so our client drafted in additional test talent from the ranks of the RDF testing team. We worked closely with our client and alongside RDF developers, creating a robust test framework that drove defects to the surface. By launch date, the app was immaculate.
Our client had developed a mobile app for one of their major clients. A successful launch was vital, because the mobile app market moves fast; disappointed users swiftly move on to other products. Determined to prevent any glitches from affecting their prestigious app, RDF were called upon to provide additional testing services.
RDF test analysts joined our client's team at their London offices. Our test team carried out a number of tasks, including reviewing requirements, test planning, writing test cases, creating data, logging defects, and providing estimates on testing activities and advising on testing issues and test approach.
Automated testing included the creation and execution of RESTful web service test cases using SoapUI, Groovy coding for test case Setup and Teardown, Assertion Checking, database access, creation of a ‘parameterized framework’ to allow data to be externalised in properties files for better maintainability and incorporating these into Maven to be part of the daily build testing. We also provided a User Guide for the framework, and developed spreadsheets to allow easy creation of insert scripts for test data generation.
Testing was carried out on the iPhone, iPad and iPod as these were the client’s target devices. We were already providing development resources, so our work on mobile app testing was able to fit seamlessly with their development effort.
Testing was rigorous, systematic and comprehensive. Our client's mobile app was tested to a high standard, with defects logged accurately so they could be dealt with efficiently. Our test analysts worked closely with our client’s own test team, delivering the required level of testing on time and on budget. We continue to work on testing and development projects together.
