RDF Lead Green Month

All 42 radio stations in the GCap Media stable are participating and Southern FM is leading the programme for Sussex. The aim is to give listeners tangible things they can do to make a daily difference and to improve Sussex's contribution to the world cause. The culmination of Green Month is "Lights Out Sussex" on Saturday 29 March at 8pm. Radio stations will encourage iconic buildings, households and businesses to switch off essential lights to demonstrate their support for Green Month (this date coincides with a global switch off entitled "Earth Hour" which starts in Sydney on the 29th March at 8pm and will follow the time zones around the world).

Dave Wood, RDF‟s Chief Executive, was delighted with the opportunity to support the programme. He said, “As a major local employer, we are well aware of the impact environmental programmes have on our community. Lights Out Sussex is a great initiative with a real benefit. Here at RDF we will not only support the Lights Out evening but we have already taken steps to ensure that our own power consumption is reduced across the board. All businesses can contribute by turning their PC's off at night. People at home can make sure they don‟t use stand-by modes for their computers and televisions – the remote control has a lot to answer for”.

Danny Pike, presenter of the Southern FM's Breakfast Show, commented, “We had a great launch on Monday with Zoe Ball and Fat Boy Slim endorsing our aims. To have a major company like RDF leading the businesses of Sussex in helping us is a real boost.”
