We have the scale, agility and ‘can do’ attitude to respond quickly to client needs with tested and robust solutions, from small projects, major development challenges.

We are in a period of major business transformation and looking for a number of ambitious, resilient and exceptionally talented people to join our growing teams under our Park Avenue People brand. We’re looking for an Instructional Designer to join us to design collaborative programming/coding training courses delivered via Moodle, as well as interactive webinar content. Working closely with our Technical Trainer and Coding Academy Director, you will develop high quality, screen-ready content to challenging timescales, based on a framework that emphasises technical, interactive, client orientated and task-based learning.

We expect you to take a key role in the instructional design, so we’re looking for a practitioner who can produce a high standard of instructionally sound and clear content appropriate to the subject matter and the intended outcomes. You must be an excellent team worker with a positive ‘can do’ creative mind and passion for digital learning who can hit the ground running.

It’s a hugely exciting time to join this expanding and ambitious company and play an essential role in developing a new online training platform that meet the needs of modern connected learners and ultimately, our clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create design guides incorporating programming-led activities, using Moodle and Adobe Connect as the primary learning tools
  • Transition learning from classroom based to online platform
  • Design activities that will engage students and help them to achieve the lesson’s learning objectives
  • Select and use tools and activities (e.g. video, forum, poll, quiz, peer review, etc.) appropriate to the learning outcomes
  • Ensure both the activities and the content of the course are relevant to the learning objectives and ambitions of our students
  • Lead and collaborate as part of diverse teams (SMEs, content reviewers) to ensure a high-quality, polished product with instructionally sound and clear content
  • Produce clear and concise documentation that guides the course development for team members and colleagues across the business to agreed timelines and quality levels

To join us you will need:

  • Experience in an established e-Learning / education provider or in an appropriate dedicated function (e.g. an e-learning team) ideally a technical (IT) one
  • Understanding of a broad range of instructional design methods, learning theory and practice and demonstrable experience of applying these concepts
  • Excellent writing, editing and layout skills used to compose a range of materials (e.g. instructional text, storyboards, etc.) in a variety of contexts and tones
  • Applied understanding of usability issues and best practice
  • Experience of design at the level of programme, course and activity
  • Ability to identify and relate to the participant’s perspective and create a learning experience appropriate to the audience
  • Working knowledge of Moodle and Adobe Connect
  • Understanding of common standards and formats (e.g. HTML, SCORM, etc.)
  • Familiarity with standard production processes and methods (e.g. storyboards, asset production, etc.)
  • Technological adaptability
  • Awareness of the latest developments in digital learning - specifically experiential, peer and facilitation-led learning
  • Training Foundation – TAP accredited in Training Delivery and Training Design and Development
  • Understand the capabilities of eLearning development tools and software
  • Experience with MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Connect
  • Previous Instructional Design experience.

It will be a big advantage if you have:

  • Experience of teaching or training, preferably online
  • Experience designing and producing video content
  • Awareness of mobile and responsive design (e.g. HTML5 and Bootstrap)
  • Knowledge of e-learning rapid authoring tools
  • Experience or knowledge of programming languages
